Its snow you fucktards, it happens every damn year. It doesnt need a name, we dont name goddamn thunderstorms, you know why? Because its unnecessary. Juno, Karl, and for god sake, the least threatening name of all Linus? If you are trying to instill fear, which you are, go for something more scary like Satan, or Zeus, or Bubonic Plague. Oh and that dark scary looking blue it means 3-5 inches, tops these areas get 8 inches. Nothing to panic over...

The Weather Channel was tired of being outdone by local news in the snow hype business.

What trumps stock footage of salt trucks leaving the depot, a reporter in a parka standing on the side of the highway, and a man on the street interview with a guy shoveling his driveway?

An official sounding fake storm name, that's what!

I used to think this was goofy as well, but then I realized what a pain in the ass it was trying to refer/talk about a storm:

"you know that one in Jan. of '13? No the other one. No the other other one..."

It is sort of useful, and they don't name every storm, just every possible large event, kind of like how tropical storms are named.
